Classic Hummus

Classic Hummus

Prep Time: 10 min Servings:

On the scale of 'How on earth am I supposed to be able to make this?" to "Does this even count as cooking?", hummus is literally one of the easiest recipes to make! Not only that, it is super nutritious and just about everyone loves it! If you are planning on making hummus as a dip, check out our recipe for fresh pita chips as well! Also, consider spreading it on toast or adding it to a salad in place of dressing! No matter what you decide to use it for, this is the perfect hummus recipe for any occasion. It balances the earthiness of the cumin, the brightness of the fresh lemon, and the kick of the garlic into a deliciously fresh dip that will impress your friends and family!

For Hummus:

  • 1 can chickpeas, drained (reserve the liquid)
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tsp salt
  • Fresh-cracked black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp ground cumin

For Topping:

  • Olive oil
  • Smoked paprika
  • Chopped parsley

  1. Place all ingredients into a food processor and process on high until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If your mixture is dry and crumbly, add the chickpea liquid (called aquafaba) you reserved 1 tbsp at a time until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Tip: To save yourself a ton of time and hassle, consider using a garlic press like this one and a citrus press like this one!

  2. Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.

  3. Enjoy!
