Classic Daiquiri

Classic Daiquiri

Let’s face it – as much as we enjoy a complex, nuanced cocktail that pushes the boundaries of what we know and love, sometimes we just really want a Daiquiri! Perfect in its simplicity, a well-made Daiquiri takes three basic ingredients – white rum, fresh-squeezed lime juice, and rich simple syrup – and combines them to make something truly incredible. Though the jury is still out on the perfect proportions for a classic Daiquiri, we make ours using the ratio originally popularized by Difford’s Guide, which results in a drink that is bright, sweet, and deliciously tart!

For Cocktail:

  • 2 1/2 oz white rum
  • 3/4 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 oz rich (2:1 ratio) simple syrup (see recipe below)
  • 1 lime wheel (for garnish)

For Rich Simple Syrup:

  • 1 cup sugar (we use cane sugar!)
  • 1/2 cup water

  1. To make rich simple syrup, combine sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring periodically to dissolve the sugar. When the mixture begins to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, or until sugar is fully dissolved. Let the syrup cool completely, transfer to an airtight container, and refrigerate - if stored properly, the syrup should keep for up to a month!

  2. Combine rum, lime juice, and rich simple syrup in a shaker and add ice. Tip: To make your life much easier, consider using a citrus press!

  3. Shake and strain into a coupe glass.

  4. Enjoy!
