Kale + Banana Smoothie

Ultimately, this recipe is completely inspired by my mother-in-law! Every time we come to town to visit, she sits us down at her kitchen table and fills us up with amazing vegan meals (like her classic vegan lasagna that is absolutely to die for!). We absolutely love the pampering - especially since everything is always so delicious! And one of our favorites is when she makes her amazing kale and banana smoothies! I'm not sure if she just has a magic touch (or perhaps a magic blender!), but these are seriously some of the best smoothies we have ever had! Since we only get to have them when we are in town, we set out to make our own version to hold us over until our next visit! The result is a nutrient-packed smoothie that tastes like heaven! There is nothing better than having this smoothie in hand after a rigorous workout or just to start a busy work day on a good note! 

Pairings:

Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe bananas

  • 3 packed cups of kale, stems removed

  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk

  • 2 tbsp agave nectar

  • 2 tsp chia seeds

  • 2 cups ice

Instructions:

  1. Place all ingredients (besides ice) into a high-speed blender, and blend on high until kale is fully broken down. 

  2. Add ice, and blend until ice is fully incorporated. Pour into your favorite glassware, and top with extra chia seeds. 

  3. Enjoy!
