Traveling Vegan in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN

"I like Hollywood. I just like Minneapolis a little bit better.” – Prince

After an overnight visit recently to Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, we can definitely see that Prince was onto something - there is a real charm to the Twin Cities that certainly made us wish we could have stayed just a little bit longer! A true Midwestern city, the streets can be completely new, but in many ways they feel so familiar. As the first installment of our Traveling Vegan series, we would be amiss if we didn’t jump right into the amazing vegan food that we got to try while visiting the Twin Cities!

The Vegan Eats

The Herbivorous Butcher

507 1st Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413

507 1st Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413

The Herbivorous Butcher is a fully vegan butcher shop - specializing in making an incredible variety of plant-based meats and cheeses - whose Instagram photos we have been drooling over for a long time! As a result, we just knew we had to stop in while visiting the Twin Cities, and it certainly did not disappoint! Interested in hearing more about our experience visiting The Herbivorous Butcher? Galactic Pizza

Over the last several years we have taken A LOT of road trips. If we are ever visiting a semi-large city, we have this amazing late-night tradition of tracking down vegan pizza somewhere in that city, taking it back to our hotel room, and absolutely demolishing it while we binge watch Food Network! And while staying in Minneapolis, Galactic Pizza definitely came to our rescue in our search for some late-night vegan pizza! We were so excited to find that most of their pizzas can be made vegan (we ordered the Old School and the Shroomer!). They were delicious - both piping hot and cold the next morning for breakfast (which is a solid test of truly good pizza)! Not to mention the cheesy garlic bread – OMG the cheesy garlic bread. There is no way to describe in words how good the cheesy garlic bread was! Overall, if your looking for a tasty late-night pizza place in Minneapolis with vegan options galore, we think Galactic Pizza is definitely a solid choice!

The Vegan Drinks

Being serious craft beer fans, we rarely go to a city without hitting up at least a couple of their breweries! And for us, the Twin Cities was no exception!

Surly Brewing Company

520 Malcolm Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414

520 Malcolm Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414

A rapidly-growing powerhouse in the Midwest craft beer scene, Surly Brewing Company is easily one of most iconic craft breweries based in the Twin Cities. And with an enormous brewery and beer hall serving many of Surly's classic beers (we're huge fans of beers like Bender, Hell, and Todd the Axe Man!) as well as a great variety of unique options not generally available in stores, we can't recommend visiting Surly Brewing Company enough!

Barrel Theory Beer Company

248 7th St E, St Paul, MN 55101

248 7th St E, St Paul, MN 55101

Before doing a bit of pre-trip research about the craft beer scene in the Twin Cities, we had never even heard of Barrel Theory Beer Company - probably because they've only been open for just around a year! That said, we are so happy we did find them because we were absolutely blown away by their beer - ranging from incredibly juicy, hazy IPAs to an incredible imperial stout brewed with maple, vanilla, and coffee. To us, this place is an absolute must-visit that we intend to stop by EVERY time we find ourselves in the Twin Cities! Check out the full article here!
